History/background

 

 

 

Open Circle started in 1987 at the Stone Center at Wellesley College. Pamela Siege started the program. The program is has been used at schools in Massachusetts, Florida, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. By the 2007, the Open Circle program had trained 10,000 educaters, and every year the number continues to rise. 

 

 

 

 

Open Circle has beeen used at North Smithfiled since 2012. Teachers continue to teach the program to students each year and new teachers continue to go to training for the program. Teachers are trained at Wellesley college for two days in the summer and then continue training for two more days in the school year.
